BLK JKS are a dub-rock group from johannesburg who chose to give convention the finger. they're already massive in their native south africa, bridging the post-apartheid class divide with a dub haze sound that resonates in the townships while their art-rock elements appeal to the foreign hipsters. these guys really are the first "trendy" ZA export, reflecting the country's new cultural momentum, tailoring the rock'n'roll sound to their own persona, rather than turning their back on african music completely.
they have a new EP getting a release this month, recorded earlier this year in new york, which looks to be the launchpad for these four east rand musicians' international take over.

Hey, great blog!
Keep it going, you started around the same time as me.
It looks like you've got further then I have though. One thing I've learned is that blogging is bloody addictive!
Do you know Blk Jks featured in Observer Music Monthly in an interview?
If you didn't get this month's try and get hold of one, really interesting issue about world music.
Thanks
Rylan
