i do it for a girl,

here's the breakdown of the alter ego vol I: i do it for a girl mix released yesterday. if you haven't yet, download it and let your ears have some fun for 20 minutes. best listened to with headphones blasting. well in an ideal world best listened to booming in a dark club but let's not get ahead of yourself. should be posting later tonight about a legitimate mixtape hitting soon, and coming to a dark club near you, unlike my own. heading to dundee tomorrow to get some cramming down for my maths final next week, here we fucking go. so stay posted for some procrastination posts straight from the uni library in the coming week.

TRACK #1: datA - aerius light

datA was featured earlier in the month for his chromeo remix, "needy girl". seems to be the only shit hot parisian dj around at the moment ed banger haven't snapped up. ok thats an exaggeration but check back later for some news on that very record label. aerius light is crazy.

TRACK #2: illo - 4 minutes (stutter mix)

pictured with a-trak, canadian DJ illo's remix of madonna's "4 minutes" is ten times better than the original. pretty unknown, illo is touring canada with his crew "the stylusts", yeah shit name i know. when the stuttered vocals of timbaland enter at the end of aerius light and that beat kicks in...

TRACK 3: calling in sick - console (renton run squeeze edit)

carrying on the intercontinental theme, dance duo calling in sick hail from australia. from what i've been reading about sydney's electro scene recently i'm very fucking jealous of my friends that are there just now for a few months. the version featured is edit by myself.

TRACK #4: justice VS webbafied - let there be light

new york rapper webbafied has released a free to download LP of him rapping over the justice album. sounds naff but it's actually incredible, especially the track featured. renton run credits for some chopping (chorus sounded better justice only) and some volume work. listen to the original to hear the changes, probably the most mixed track on the tape bar the transitions. also check out sydney sounder for a webbafied interview.

TRACK #5: walter meego - girls

the somewhat title track of the mix, i simply love this track. there's no other way of saying it, the electro guitar riff, the poppy vox verse, it's incredible. daft punk meets air meets david bowie, gorgeous. walter meego are a chicago group, (chi city/chi town if you're kanye west) and have a record called "almost gold" on sony. buy their record and if they ever come to the UK, go see them! walter meego rock.
